Féile Classical | The Trip To Tipp

Féile Classical

Féile is back! This year will see the return of the Trip to Tipp which was one of Ireland’s first big music festivals. The festival was a massive attraction to music lovers back in the early nineties between 1990 and 1994. The music festival attracted some big names such as Blur, INXS, Simply Red, Iggy Pop and Meat Loaf.

The historic music event, some 28 years after the festival first launched, will return for two nights only (originally planned for 1 night, after tickets sold out a second night was added) on Friday 21st – Saturday 22nd of September and will have some of Ireland’s top names in the music industry including An Emotional Fish, The 4 of Us, Hothouse Flowers, The Stunning and Something Happens. The festival has been re-branded as “Féile Classical” with its main musical focus set on Irish talent.

This time around the festival organisers added a little bit piece of bling to the event with the addition of gourmet vegan food stalls, and a selection of pop-up gin and Prosecco bars and of course clean toilets. The tickets for the fully seated event are priced from €49.50 and ticket numbers are limited. You can buy your tickets here.

With accommodation prices set to soar for the weekend of the festival there is no better an opportunity to get the friends and pool together for a campervan Trip to Tipp. You can cover your transport costs and accommodation from as little as €33 per night per person, based on 6 people sharing. That is a massive saving compared to increased accommodation costs in the area. The Wild Atlantic Way Sligo To Ballina

To continue our exploration of the world-famous route that is The Wild Atlantic Way we will now take a look at the stretch from Sligo to Ballina.

Leaving Sligo, you can travel over to The Fairy Glen which is definitely a standalone destination in Ireland. Located at the foot of Knocknarea, The Fairy Glen will amaze you with beautiful scenery and nature with ivy-covered stone, hanging vines, mossy rock and ancient trees. This makes the area look like a hidden garden that kids would love to explore.

As you leave the The Fairy Glen you will travel through Carrowmore which is Europe’s largest cemeteries of megalithic tombs. Here you will be taken back in time with the collection of tombs and ring forts.
As you travel further away from Sligo along the coast you will then come upon Dunmoran Strand. Dunmoran Strand is picturesque and has great surfing, swimming and walking along the 4km beach. This is only one of several quiet and secluded little beaches that are scattered along the Co. Sligo coast.

Just further west from Dunmore Strand is Aughris Head which is located in the southern section of the Sligo Bay. The view you can experience from Aughris Head overlooking Sligo bay is simply spectacular. I the area is a holy well which history claims that St. Patrick had visited. While you are there why not stop off at the Beach Bar which is steeped in Irish heritage and culture.

The next must visit location as you travel towards Ballina along the coast is the beautiful village of Easkey. Easkey is internationally considered as one of the most popular surfing destinations in Ireland with surfing taking place in here all year round. What makes Easkey perfect for surfers is the rocky cliffs situated before the coast that break the waves and shapes them perfectly for surfing.

The next area of interest before you reach Ballina that we think you visit is Inishcrone. Inishcrone is a small seaside town with a beautiful sandy beach, tourist campsite, and golf course for you to park up for a day or two and enjoy. The beach is surrounded by amazing sandy dunes and in the centre of the dunes is the Valley of Diamonds which is a dune hill that shoots up and looks like a volcano.

Just before you arrive in Ballina make sure you stop off at Ballina quay. A picturesque location the quay is typically filled with small boats located around the wreck of a huge ship in the centre of the Quay. Across on the opposite bank you will see Bellek Castle and forest park.

The picturesque route of The Wild Atlantic Way has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. The section of the route from Sligo To Ballina is no exception. Breathtaking views and scenery is waiting for you as you embark on a campervan trip that you will remember forever.
